What is there to see and do in the area?

The town of St Andrews offers a huge number of things to see and do. An hour's drive from Edinburgh and 30 minutes from the city of Dundee.

St Andrews is famed for its numerous golf courses which include the Old Course, Fairmont, Dukes and Castle courses. The final round of the annual Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is one of the many competitions played at the Old Course. The West Port is the perfect venue to stay in whilst you enjoy some playing some of the finest golf courses in the world.

The town of St Andrews itself is rooted in a long history. Visit the ruins of the St Andrews Castle - the former residence of the archbishops of St Andrews. The view of the town from the top of the tower in the St Andrews Cathedral is breathtaking. Immerse yourself in the town's heritage at the St Andrews Museum.

All of the family will enjoy the St Andrews Aquarium where you are transported into an underwater world of adventure. Come face to face with piranhas and sharks and watch the live seal show.

A great day out is to be had at Craigtoun Country Park. With floral gardens, boating on the lake, a children's play area and crazy golf.

Why not enjoy a stroll around the stunning St Andrews Botanic Gardens. With a combination of woodland walks and exotic glasshouses you'll view nature at its best. Or stroll along the Fife Coastal Path to view hidden caves, old ruins and award winning beaches.

Fife, itself, has many hidden treasures definitely worth a visit. Along the coast are the fishing villages of Crail, Anstruther and Elie. Anstruther is home to the world famous Anstruther Fish Bar -UK Fish & Chip Shop of the year 2008/09- visited by several celebrities including Tom Hanks.

Just south of St Andrews is Scotland's Secret Bunker. 24,000 feet of secret accommodation hidden for over 40 years beneath an innocent Scottish farmhouse.
